You are invited to The Hollis Hills Bayside Beit Medrash
Introduction to the Jewish Bookshelf
On Wednesday, November 2nd, we will kickoff the Hollis Hills Bayside Beit Medrash, one of the first programs of it’s kind in Queens. The Beit Medrash will focus on individualized Jewish learning tailored to the interests, knowledge, and skills of the participants. Find a partner and topic that suits your interest and skills. Or, if you prefer, we’ll help you find a partner and topic that is suitable for you. Each evening program will consist of two parts, an individualized study session mentored by Rabbi Wise, and a communal presentation by Rabbi Wise on an Introduction to the Jewish Bookshelf, those texts you’re likely to find on his bookshelf and their place in Jewish study.
The first session will begin at 8:00PM and will be in chavruta format, the traditional format for Talmud study. We hope to see a dozen groups discussing Jewish text that is relevant and of interest to them. The Rabbi will be both a source and mentor to each of the groups. Then at 8:45PM, we’ll gather together for the Rabbi’s presentation which should last no longer than 45 minutes. We hope you’ll be a part of each session, but feel free to participate in either session as your interests and schedule allow. Feel free to join us for a subsequent session, no matter how many sessions you miss.
