Today is August 15, 2018 -
Firstly, I would like to begin by asking everyone to join me in saying a prayer for the victims, their families, their friends, and all the students and faculty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The tragic mass shooting has caused so much loss and pain so let us pray that all who were/are affected find the strength to get through this terrible tragedy. Let us remember all the victims and keep them in our hearts.
I know it is a difficult transition but I will now move on to tell you about some events and happenings taking place at our congregation.
On April 11th, we will host a Community Yom Hashoah Program to take place at HHBJC at 7:00 PM. There will be several other synagogues together with their Rabbis and Cantors that will join us in this program as we remember and honor the victims of the Holocaust.
I am very pleased to let you know that our dear member, Sam Solsaz, a Holocaust survivor whose book “ANGEL OF THE GHETTO” is now available on AMAZON and is in high demand, will be interviewed at our Yom Hashoha Program and we will have the rare opportunity to ask him many questions about what he went through, how he escaped and how he managed to survive. We will hear first-hand about his remarkable story. This will be a very moving and eye-opening interview as we hear about Sam’s bold escape, incredible survival and rebuilding of life. Let us all support Sam as he opens up to us and shares his memories and experiences with us. DON’T MISS IT. Wednesday, April 11th at 7:00 PM at our Synagogue. Please join us in supporting Sam as he shares his incredible story with us.
I can’t wait to see all of you at our 2018 Simcha Dinner Dance which is truly right around the corner. It is being held on Saturday night, March 10th at 8:00 PM, in our Ballroom where we will honor our beloved RABBI DAVID WISE as he celebrates his 13 year Anniversary as our Rabbi, Friend and Teacher.
Passover is also around the corner. Hopefully the spring-like weather will continue and we will all celebrate a beautiful Pesach.
See you in Shul.
