Yom Hashoah Community Commemoration at HHBJC – A Rare Interview with Sam Solasz

Share

Firstly, I must share with you my reflections on what a beautiful evening we just experienced together as we honored our beloved Rabbi David Wise. The night was filled with love, appreciation, honor and respect. There was so much ruach (spirit) and happiness that surrounded us as we celebrated our Rabbi’s 13th year as our spiritual leader and friend. The music was great, the food was delicious and the warmth filled our Sanctuary & Ballroom.

As I have expressed many times before, David Wise is not only my Co-Clergy Partner but he is also my good friend. He is our Rabbi, our Teacher and a true Mensch. He is a man of fine character who treats others with dignity & respect and always shows humility & compassion. Mazel Tov Rabbi Wise! I am honored and proud to share the pulpit with you here at HHBJC! We love you!

I would like to bring to everyone’s attention…SAVE THE DATEWednesday, April 11th at 7:00 PM at HHBJC.  Our Congregation is taking part in and we are the host synagogue of the communal Yom Hashoah Commemoration, with our friends from Hillcrest Jewish Center, Israel Center of Conservative Judaism, Flushing-Fresh Meadows Jewish Center, and Jewish Center of Kew Gardens Hills. This gathering will take place on Wednesday, April 11th, at our synagogue, the Hollis Hills Bayside Jewish Center.

Our longtime and dear member, Sam Solsaz,  whose book ANGEL OF THE GHETTOis now in high demand and available on AMAZON, will be interviewed at this Yom Hashoah Program and we will have the rare opportunity to ask him many questions about his incredible experiences; surviving a Ghetto, escaping from a cattle car on its way to Treblinka and how he managed to exist and survive in the forest. We will hear his first-hand account. This will be a very moving and eye-opening interview as we hear about Sam’s bold escape, amazing survival and rebuilding of life and how he settled in Hollis Hills. Let us all support Sam as he opens up his heart to us and shares his memories and experiences.

Bring your friend, neighbor, family, child, grandchild…It is so IMPORTANT that these stories be heard by everyone! This is a RARE opportunity to hear a FIRSTHAND EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT of a SURVIVOR and then we must pass these survival stories on to the next generation, so it is never forgotten. DON’T MISS THIS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE! Let us all take part together.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Passover, a Zissen Pescah !

See you in Shul.

Cantorially always,
Cantor Sol Zim
