Fun & Laughter at HHBJC

March madness is here! Purim is around the corner and Pesach is around the next corner. How time flies! I want to give you the heads up about a fantastic program we have coming to HHBJC!

My friend, CHARLES (Charlie) BERNHAUT, a well-known Jewish Radio personality, a lover of Jewish Music, Jewish Comedy, an outspoken advocate for the State of Israel, and a man that is dedicated and devoted to Jewish Music & Culture…is coming to HHBJC! SAVE THE DATE…SUNDAY, MARCH 24th at 10:00 AM. You may recognize him; he has been at a number of our Gala concerts. He will be presenting us with ”HISTORY & BEST OF JEWISH COMEDY”. Let’s give Charlie our very special warm HHBJC welcome! Bagels and Lox will be served before and after his presentation. ALL ARE WELCOME! No charge!

 Charlie grew up in the Weequahic section of Newark, NJ. He earned his B.A. in philosophy from Rutgers University and his Law Degree from Rutgers Law School in 1962. He is a man of many hobbies, interests, insights & missions. Charlie is a major collector of comedy recordings, over 1,000 albums. For over 35 years he has been presenting “The Best of Jewish Comedy” featuring recordings/clips of the best of Jewish Humor –  comedians such as Myron Cohen, Mickey Katz, Mal Z. Lawrence, Henny Youngman, Alan Sherman, Jackie Mason, Betty Walker & others. He brings his audience an hour of non-stop laughter. As he says, “LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE”. His comedy presentation has been part of a four-session course that Charlie has taught at NYU – also featuring sessions on Israeli, Yiddish & Cantorial music.

Charlie is also an outspoken advocate for the State of Israel. He is a lover of Jewish/Cantorial music. He is a major collector of old Jewish music recordings. He has had radio shows and TV programs about Jewish Music, Jewish culture and for eight years, Charlie co-hosted a weekly TV program, “Israel Update”, with Helen Freedman. The program featured interviews and discussions about issues facing Israel and the Jewish community. *Mark the Date…SUNDAY, MARCH 24th at 10:00 AMDON’T MISS IT! WE WILL SHARE NON-STOP LAUGHTER TOGETHER!

Here are some other DATES TO SAVE…Our ”LEARN TO LEAD SERVICES (DAVEN)”  classes are continuing…Wednesday evenings at 8:00 PM,  FEB. 27th, MARCH 6th, MARCH 13th.  All are welcome! 

Come join our fun filled “YIDDISH CLUB”. Our last get-together was a blast. They get better and better all the time. So come  join us on Wednesday evening at 8:00 PM on APRIL 3rd.   We will laugh a bisel, nosh a bisel and learn of our Jewish heritage while having fun!!
