H2I closed out the 2014 year with some excellent December programs. We started the month with a Jewish Edition of Iron Chef, in which our youth competed to see who could whip up the most delicious creations. The next week, all of our groups participated in a Mitzvah Stations program—working on some projects that were donated to organizations across the U.S. These activities included making Rainbow Loom bracelets, creating “no-sew” winter hats, building pet toys for animal shelters, writing letters to hospitalized children, and more. After giving back during the holiday season, we celebrated Chanukah the next week with a fun party!
Despite missing a few weeks in January because of holiday weekends, we still have some great programs planned. We’ll kick off 2015 on January 11 with “Double Dare 2015,” a recreation of the classic Nickelodeon game show. Teams will face off in a trivia competition, but if they don’t know the answer, they can opt for a physical challenge instead! Towards the end of the month, on January 25, we’ll be holding an Escape the Room program, based on the wildly popular phone apps and real-world experiences popping up all over NYC. Teams will compete to crack the clues and “escape” from the room within an hour. We’ll see if any of our teams work together to beat the game!
